Minority rights - The term minority rights embodies two separate concepts: first, normal individual rights as applied to members of racial, ethnic, class or religious minorities, and second, collective rights accorded to minority groups.
The Language Police - The Language Police is a 2003 book by Diane Ravitch that details the role bias and sensitivity guidelines play in determining the content of standardized tests. According to Ravitch, groups on both ends of the political spectrum try to influence what is being taught to children; the Right removes references to subjects such as evolution, while the Left makes sure all minority groups are represented equally.
Burakumin - Burakumin (部落民: buraku, community + min, people), or hisabetsu buraku (被差別部落 "discriminated communities") are a Japanese social minority group. The burakumin are one of the main minority groups in Japan, along with the Ainu of Hokkaido and residents of Korean and Chinese descent.
Chechen refugees - In the early 1990s,the Soviet Union broke up creating a mass frenzy in newly created states. Most states carried their names on the basis of their major ethnic groups and large number of minority groups sprung up.
